About this album
Produced and mixed by Steve Osborne, Head Music features a more electronic sound, which was a new approach to their music. The recording of Head Music was plagued with difficulties such as singer Brett Anderson’s addiction to crack, and keyboardist Neil Codling’s recurring Chronic fatigue syndrome. Despite these events the album still went to number 1 on the UK Albums Chart, however it received more promotion than any of their previous releases. The album received mixed-to-positive reviews, however there were more negative reviews of Head Music than any of their previous records.

I really feel head music would have been so much better if elephant man and the title track were relegated to b-side status and were replaced with any of Crackhead, Situations, Popstar, Let Go, See That Girl or Leaving. there were really some great b-sides from this era. I can't state enough how much those 2 tracks undermine the album as a whole. So close to another classic.

Yep, this is a really great album and most definitely underrated. Electricity, Everything Will Flow, Down, Asbestos, Hi-Fi, and Indian Strings are all among my Suede favourites. I agree that Head Music and Elephant Man are the clear weak links and should have been left off though.

I simply adore this album... and I can't understand why so many people hate it.. I mean.. listen carefully to those songs...elephant man, electricity, asbestos, can't get enough and he's gone... they are brilliant!
