Brazil

Tomás Rodrigues, or Subsollo, is from Brazil and works with musical production from seven years. He is specialized in electronic music, and his main references are jazz, hip-hop, house, trip hop and bossa nova.

Subsollo is graduated in publicity and has a major interest in the independent music market. In his monograph, he discusses the independent phonographic market and its new technologies. The monograph provokes a reflection about the cultural market and the use of new communication and production tools as a main ally in the distribution and advertisement of artistic products.

Subsollo took part in the first edition of the Feira da Música Independente – FMI (Independent Music Market) that happened in Brazil from April 27th to 30th of 2005. His participation in such event led him to move to São Paulo in that same year (2005), where he took a course in Audio Production in the Instituto de Áudio e Vídeo – IAV (Audio and Video Institute), a major reference in the country for training professionals in the music production business.

His last project is a proposal inspired by the house, breakbeat, lounge and jazz music. The groove with the high strings is a major characteristic of his musical style. In addition to the development of his musical projects, Subsollo is also responsible for the creation of the graphic arts that are used in his musical productions. That is his way of creating an integrated audio and visual identity for his work.
