sub.bionic was the project initially produced by joel shearer and jimmy tuckett in the spring of 1998 in los angeles, california. shortly after their introduction, joel shearer invited guitarist nick lashley, bassist chris chaney and drummer jimmy paxson to become involved in the project (although other musicians can also be heard on various tracks).
by the spring of 2001, sub.bionic had finished with its first and only record label release entitled, ‘you i lov///’. after months of delays, the album was released on february 12, 2002.
in the summer of 2005, sub.bionic released a hand-made album, ‘how to build a casket’ comprising a mixture of unreleased material from the original quintet and subsequent recordings from jimmy tuckett. the album was accompanied by a video to the album track ‘stone cold baby,’ which was limited in its release.
