Biography
…pessimist, on a good day.
A largely self-taught musician, working with the piano and guitar, Stuart Newman began experimenting with his songwriting and home recording production techniques before and during his University years.
Cutting together audio and absorbed with the quirks of stereo sound - with headphones at the ready - he immersed himself in the world of overdubbing and harmony, curious as to what could be achieved. This musical and vocal experimentation led to the acoustic-driven album Single But Defective.
Newman’s self-produced home recording Single But Defective was released online as a free download in around 2009.
In order to offer something more tangible alongside free downloads, in 2010, Newman designed some T-Shirts which he offered to fans around the world for free (while stocks lasted). They were sent to destinations such as Finland, Russia, Sweden, Romania, Mexico, Taiwan and USA.
Subsequently, Newman moved into the recording studio to record the songs
Head Hurts,
Pandora and
The Decade. Later in the year, he returned to the studio to record further new material and recorded
Feel The Temperature Rising.
Back in the studio in September 2011, Newman recorded the new single
(We’re Living In) Another Dimension, which became the first track on the Bored Of Idiot Chatter - EP, which was released on 18th May 2012. The limited run 6-Track CD EP was made available on free physical CD and free download. The EP contains an ‘Alt Version’ of (We’re Living In) Another Dimension (Alt Version) - mixed by Adam Bennett - along with a selection of other material from the mellow-rock Brighton-based musician.
