- - Once upon a time, in the fourth year of this great millennium, four friends from Nevada County, CA gathered together to play music. This meeting of ideas was a collective fate - a destiny in the form of a band. Bryan, Wes, Nolan, Jesse… Strifer was born. Soon after introductions, they began to write songs; a style emerged that would become the band’s obsession for the next two years. Thus, the cool calm genius of Wes’ guitar mastery molded perfectly with Jesse’s raw shredding ability, while Bryan’s drums and Nolan’s bass hammered out memorable tasty rhythms. Topped off with Jesse’s poetic lyrics, sung through a gritty voice, the band had found their sound.
- - As they began to open up shows for large local bands, a mutual feeling was permeated throughout the group: We need to write more music, and we need to hone in our talents to move forward as musicians. So, for many months they practiced their craft and transformed their newly inspired ideas into brand new songs. During this time, however, Nolan was accepted into college at Santa Cruz State University and left the band to further his education in music. This change prompted a replacement for their shows. Brett Lewis, a fellow musician and friend, stepped in to fill the spot temporarily.
