David Blake, better known to many by his stage name, David Stones was born July 31st 1988 in the Brownsville section of Brooklyn, New York. David Stones is the Co-founder of the District of Hip Hop aka the DOHH Squad and also the cousin of Kenyatta Blake aka Buckshot who is a fellow Brooklyn-bred emcee and CEO of the storied independent label, Duck Down Music Inc.

While growing up David gravitated towards artist who took pride in their lyrics and often incorporated vivid social commentary into their music such as Wu Tang Clan, Jay Z, Nas, Notorious B.I.G., Tupac, The Lox, Dungeon Family and the Boot Camp Clik to name a few. After writing his first 16 bar verse at the age of 9 and honing his craft for the next 5 years David formed a group of his own with a childhood friend under the name Styxx ‘N Stones during their freshmen year of high school. Although Styxx ‘N Stones never officially disbanded they both gradually went their seperate ways before ever releasing any full legnth projects after Styxx enlisted in the Navy and Stones chose to keep pursuing a career in music.

In June of 2006 at the age of 17 David Stones who was then simply known by the moniker Stones released his first mixtape “The New Stone Age” which was received well by fans and critics alike but, unfortunately did not circulate too far outside of the tri-state area due to virtually no online promotion.
