About this album

Purple is the second album released by the American Stone Temple Pilots, on June 7, 1994, by Atlantic Records. It contains several of the band’s biggest hit songs, including “Vasoline,” “Interstate Love Song,” and “Big Empty,” which was also featured on The Crow soundtrack. The album was a big success for STP, debuting at #1 (for three weeks, longer than any stay at the top by Nirvana, Alice in Chains, or Soundgarden) and being certified 6x platinum. In 2006, the album was ranked number 73 on Guitar World magazine’s list of the greatest 100 guitar albums of all time.
