“Plush” is a song by the American Stone Temple Pilots. It is one of the band’s biggest hits, and was composed and written by singer Scott Weiland, drummer Eric Kretz and bassist Robert DeLeo for STP’s debut album, Core.

According to the Plush Songfacts, the lyrics were inspired, in part, by an unfortunate news story in Stone Temple Pilots’ hometown of San Diego, California about a missing young woman who was later discovered dead by local law enforcement (“And I feel, when the dogs begin to smell her. …”). At a concert in Columbus, Ohio on May 17, 2008, lead singer Scott Weiland said that he and STP drummer Eric Kretz wrote the lyrics in a hot tub after hearing the news story.

The song was released in as Core’s second single and became a major rock radio hit in the U.S. “Plush” won in the category of “Best Hard Rock Performance” at the 1994 Grammy Awards.

Weiland and STP guitarist Dean DeLeo performed an version of “Plush” on the MTV show Headbanger’s Ball that was also very popular. It was originally only available on a CD single from England for their single, “Creep”, but is now featured on the band’s “” compilation, Thank You, along with the original electric version.

lord_of_beer I agree on most part, yet seeing things differently as "we" or some sort of separated people? Interesting of you to say that, when you're the prime example, that a particular person in and of itself, can easily see things in a different perspective throughout the years. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's natural. If Plush still is that sentimental to you, maybe after ~10 year time (or smth like that) it'll hopefully reignite its original magic for you. Zeppelin said it best - the song remains the same.

@truth_in_chains That's the beauty of music, how we see things differently. Would I recommend this song? Sure I would. Does it hold the same magic for me that it used to? It doesn't, but it still holds memories.

It was the time o the Grunge craze. I just heard Tool's eulogy before this, and it points out something I was thinking yesterday. This song, while fun, doesn't hold up as well as some others.

I can't stand the acoustic version. I think the heavy guitars give the lyrics strength and sense of urgency. My opinion anyway...
