  • Ugly/funny-looking artists in rock/metal music that you must love!

    22 May 2010, 20:17 by Izzystone

A list of ugly, funny-looking or strange people in music we love! The good thing about / music is that you don't have to look like a supermodel to be a star! Talent is what matters!

Please feel free to come with some examples if I've forgotten some good men!

    Here are some good examples:

Ronnie James Dio - Dio, Heaven & Hell, Black Sabbath, Elf, Rainbow.

Ronnie James Dio was an all-star. An icon, a multi-instrumentalist and generally a magnificent singer. Ronnie was 160 cm tall, and looked like a gnomy little elf, but he had the voice of an angel. One of the grandfathers and pioneers of the Heavy Metal genre, and a rock icon! He influenced thousands of bands with his enormous voice and his warm personality. All hail the little man with the huge voice!

    Lemmy Kilmister - Motörhead, Hawkwind.

  • Super Torn Up Over Aerosmith!!!

    27 Jan 2010, 21:57 by elivnitup

It's like the death of a god.
Apparently the band is looking for a new singer.... You gotta be fucking kidding me. The kinda die-hard fans that result from a 40-year lineup ain't gonna be showing at concerts without that legendary, trademark voice, and stage persona that ST owns. I can only speak for myself of course, but say it ain't so?!
Cmon ST, do what it takes to get your ass back on track!!! The band won't come close without you and I, for one, see it as a damn shame, the wasting of your band-mates' talent. Cause I know, I won't be seeing them with a different singer. That's simply blasphemy.
I can't decide which is worse, Guns N' Roses without Slash or Aerosmith without Steven Tyler.

I seriously shed some tears when I heard this on the truck radio today.

Hitting Aerosmith track #1 of the 95 I own.

  • Finally, Up the Iron's!

I came to Cambridge with the idea I was just going to study there and well, maybe having a good time. But learning English was my goal and I went for it! Well, that went quite alright for just a week. Until a bookstore called Borders came along…

My Swedish friend was looking for a book, so we went to the lovely bookstore. I haven’t read a book in years, so for me it wasn’t such a big deal. But my Swedish friend had to look for a while, so I decided to have a look at the biography section. Since I didn’t see any artists, I asked where I could find the biography of Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler. If I was there, I might as well ask, right? I always been quite curious how his life has been like, so I went upstairs, where the lovely staff of Borders send me to.

No Steven Tyler. Oh bugger. But well, there were plenty of other books from interesting artists and bands, so I took the time to have a look around. Well, that went quite alright, until I saw a familiar red logo. …

  • 5 artistas que fazem com que eu me sinta bem

    14 Apr 2008, 06:02 by stelladauer

  • Follow that meme! - melomane

    20 Mar 2007, 14:05 by DudeTheMath

So bamgrrl seems to have mutated an existing meme to get this one, and I've decided to help propagate it.

Simply, you listen to a specific friend's station, note the first ten songs, and comment on them.

I'm moving on to melomane, whose Taste-o-meter compatibility is "Low". I think that's mostly a reflection of what I have in my CD collection, though, since I've listened to her station once or twice before, and enjoyed what I've heard. Her taste runs a bit more to folk and world than mine. So here goes!

    1. Walk, Don't Run: Everybody loves a little surf guitar, right? What a way to wake up!

    2. Papito: Fun and bouncy. It reminds me a bit of Django Reinhardt's gypsy jazz, only without the jazz, if that makes sense.

    3. Against The Wind: Enya has a big sister? Máire is less new-agey, more folky than little sister Enya. I like it.

    4. Have You Got It In You?: I think this would appeal to any fan of Kate Bush and Tori Amos, which I am. …
  • Hey Kid! Look What They Did! Johnny Crash's Neighbourhood Threat.

    14 Dec 2006, 03:58 by CaptHowdy666

Johnny Crash, a CD that lived in my player for at least two years back in 1990. Wow, did I love this CD. I was first introduced to them in a really odd way. I had never heard them on the radio and I never saw any type of video, but I did get to hear what I suppose was one of their singles from the album, 'Hey Kid'... played by a friend of mine's band at the time.

I was always at my friend's practices and gigs so I ended up hearing this song over and over and over again (mistakes and all). They did it pretty good and it quickly became one of my favorites. I asked the drummer of my friend's band who the heck does this originally? He pointed to a poster on the wall, ah, Johnny Crash.

A little while later while perusing the CDs at the local music shop I found Neighbourhood Threat. After I got home I plopped it in my player and it virtually never left for a couple of years.

I remember looking up Johnny Crash information on the Internet a long time ago. …
  • Future Reality Television

    26 Nov 2006, 19:37 by bawitback

When I was falling asleep last night, I was thinking of a couple things. With the way of reality television taking mainstream in North America; I first imagined Jonathan Davis lead singer of alternative rock band Korn to have a reality TV show with his wife and children. Following the path of MTV's Ozzy Osborne.

Think of it, Black Sabbath was popular in 1970 releasing dozens of singles. Where Korn also released a handful of albums over the course of 10+ years. I won't be surprised, if other artist also jump on the bandwagon. Including egotistical artists such as Marilyn Manson, Steven Tyler, hell even Axe Rose of Gunz n' Roses

    Just a thought.
