There are at least two artists by the name of Steve Porter.

1. Steve Porter is a house music producer, remixer and DJ originally from Boston, Massachusetts. Porter, who began producing electronic music at the age of sixteen, was discovered by Chris Fortier in 1999 and was signed to Fortier’s Fade Records label. Since this time he has toured the United States extensively on DJ tours and has released over thirty remixes and fifty original productions (using his own name and monikers Chop Shop, Driven Child, Saturated Fatty, HDF & Bons and Agent 001, with fellow Boston DJ/producer Eli Wilkie).

Fans describe his sound as “Porterhouse,” and this is also the name given to nightclub events in which Porter plays music. Porter often makes DJ sets, remixes and productions of his available to download on his website free of charge, several of which are unsolicited or unreleased versions of popular club and pop hits. 2005 saw the release of Homegrown, a DJ-mixed compilation album on FDS Recordings.

2. Steve Porter (1864-1936) was a vaudevillian who recorded several routines on cylinders between 1897 and 1920.
