Biography
There are two artists named Steve Carter.
1. Emerging from the Bergen County coffeehouse circuit, Steve Carter is musician from Mahwah, NJ. Currently in the Escape Directors, he has performed with Carter & Bertone, Darrin Bradbury, and The Sloppy Horse, Big Wilson River, and many others.
2. Steve Carter has been in the music business since graduating in 1980.
Having lectured to degree students in popular contemporary music whilst also working as a session musician in London, he went on to make over 120 appearances as a jazz bass player at the ‘Ronnie Scott’s Club’ in London, plus dozens of TV appearances on disk and TV with pop and jazz artists, as well as appearances with Lenny Henry, French & Saunders and Helen Lederer - and as the bass player for the 80’s pop band ‘Red Box’.
Steve now composes music for film & television drama & documentaries. He has a studio in the Highlands of Scotland where he also pursues his passion for landscape photography. If you would like to hear examples of Steve’s music visit the music downloads page
Much of Steve’s music is commissioned as ‘production music’ for BMG Zomba companies ‘Chappells Recorded Music Library’ and ‘Bruton Music’, although he is often commissioned privately.
Steve now has more than 35 CD’s and 950 published compositions to his name.
