Born in Hereford UK 1958 learned piano, trombone and guitar by age 12. Parents Bob & Barbara were keen musicians and Steve was given lessons in these instruments achieving grades.
Head boy in Kington church choir and Hereford Cathedral as a Chorister, got a guitar age 12 and played with local group The Mobos doing events around Norton Canon with his Mum & friends.

Formed Whisky Mac a Folk-Rock band on guitar/mandolin/vocals with Will Thomas-accordian/fiddle/vocals, Clive Norman on bass & vocals and Jamie-Mandolin.
Whisky Mac played many ceilidhs,folk events & held a residency at at a hotel in Symonds Yat where they had medieval feasts.
Also T.Pot-playing rock covers. Played a few gigs including the summer concerts in the Castle Green. Steve hung out at a local studio & learned a lot making tea & tuning guitars for Jimmy Scott & Pete Farnham & Martin Chambers who soon met Chrissy Hinde and became The Pretenders.
Whilst still in Hereford struck up friendship with fellow Herefordian Richard Chadwick.Along with Rob Stoat & Will Watkins, Steve & Richard moved to Bath & the two of them were the nucleus of The Demented Stoats & Smartpils, The Ancient Ones, Pilwind, & Little Big Men.
“Steve Christ”-Steve & a number of analogue synths and sequencers in the early 80s, & as the equipment was invented, early hard trance pre-Technopagan.
