Her latest release, Spark, arrived with wide acclaim from critics all over. An album full of bikes, jacuzis, cameras, birds, and skeletons, Stephanie takes your ordinary, everyday things and makes them into the giants they deserve to be. In Photo Chemicals, a song about capturing a moment, she says intricately over waltzing music, “The camera catches the film inside the holes. You were looking at me, and the rest is history.” What makes the delivery so much more than words, are the careful arrangements. Take a good listen in a set of headphones. It’s a circus marching into town. While the elephants may stand out at once, upon closer inspection you take notice of sequins on costumes, finger cymbals, and goat hooves. The album is just that. A meticulous circus of indie-rock, folk, and pop.
