Biography

Steel Prophet originally formed by guitarist Steve Kachinsky under the name Hard Prophet in the 80s is an American powermetalband. Although the band’s music is influenced predominantly by Judas Priest, Metallica, Yes, Forbidden, and Sabbath, more personal influences include Queen and Pink Floyd. Leaked a demo in 1990 Inner Ascendence, and then finally got signed in 1995 with the release of their first album Goddess Principle. Dark Hallucinations, released on the Nuclear Blast label got some attention but they still remain fairly underground, with more German notoriety than anything. Through many lineup changes, Steve Kachinsky’s writing remains true. Their latest, Beware was under the new Massacre Records, and they are currently planning a new album for release sometime this year. Rick Mythiasin has been taken on again as vocalist for the album and a smallish tour planned for this fall. New single, Trickery of the Scourge is available on the band’s MySpace and has a slightly different sound.

Inner Ascendence and The Goddess Principle were absolute killer! One of the few albums and bands that had and have that special something. Awesome vocals

Top 5 all covers, bit of shame. Sure they do it so well (The Apparition WOW!!!), but it shows I guess that there are not that many fans around, otherwise their own tracks would be reigning this chart...

How the hell is it possible that this band has that little listeners!?!?!? One of the best Metal bands from the late eighties/nineties at least... and maybe even more! What singer indeed...

One of the best American power metal bands in existance. It's a damn shame that they aren't more well known.

Such a criminally underrated band. Rick Mythiasin is an absolute god. What a voice.

Rick Mythiasin is one of the best vocalists born after the 60's... this band really deserves more praise.

I simply LOVE this band. One of the most unfairly underrated bands out there. Messhia, Dark Allucinations and Book of Dead are a must if you like classic power metal. Many people don't dig it saying they try to copy Maiden, and is not fair to say that. By the way Rick Mythiasin voice is just AMAZING

"Dark Hallucinations" is one of the best (for me anyway) Metal albums of the nineties. "Messiah" was a bit dissapointing for me, too much Italian style speedy Power Metal that was very popular at the time! With "Book Of The Dead" they came back hard time!!!

Show some love for Sleep of Despair! :-) Besides that one, I only have Book of the Dead, which is also very good.

I like the Messiah- both album and track. Very nice piece of metal indeed.
