Stan was the legendary bass player of cult bands Theatre Of Hate, and Spear Of Destiny. He went on to form London based band CRAZY PINK REVOLVERS in 1986, and later Philadelphia band Boy Boy Nova in 1990.
As well as working with his current band Plastic Eaters, co founded with singer and programmer Rob Daly, Stan also works as a session musician for various artists, which includes both live and studio work. In ‘99 Stammers and Plastic Eaters gained an artist sponsorship from Adidas.
Stan uses Wal basses produced by renowned bass manufacturer Electric Wood Limited, near Cobham, in Surrey, England. He also exclusively uses Ashdown Engineering Bass Amplification, Picato Bass Strings, Jim Dunlop Black Nylon 1.0mm Picks, and Hiscox Cases.
From an early period his main influence for playing bass was Slade’s bass player Jim Lea, who he still cites as an influence today, along with Paul Simonon (The Clash), Bruce Foxton (The Jam), Horace Panter (The Specials) and John Entwistle (The Who).
