Stage 19 was created by the musical fusion of blind American couple Molly McClenahan and Josh de Lioncourt. Their sound combines a variety of styles and influences into a rich tapestry that is all their own. From adult contemporary to Euro-pop, or R&B to dance, they weave their way in and out of genres, transcending traditional pop.

Molly was born and raised in rural Pennsylvania. At age fourteen, she began classical vocal training, which she continued through college. She performed in choirs at both her high school and university, progressing to state level championships. Vocally, her influences include Whitney Houston and Mariah Carrie, and she loves the Beatles.

Growing up in southern California, Josh lost his vision at age six. Shortly thereafter, he discovered the music of George Michael, the artist who remains his most critical influence. He began formal piano instruction in his early teens. Although Josh writes everything from fiction to software, composing music has always been his primary passion. Aside from George Michael, a few of his other influences are Sting, Elton John, and Lisa Loeb, among many others.

In the summer of 2006, the couple were introduced to one another through a mutual friend. She was a singer. He was a song writer. Despite knowing these facts about each other, it didn’t occur to either of them to work musically together until well into their relationship.

In 2008, they began recording tracks for their debut EP “Opening Act” during Molly’s visits to California from the east coast. “Opening Act” was released in the spring of 2009.
