Amazing band. I think everyone had one band that their parents listened to as a child; this is them. They conjure up so many fantastic memories. I am finally going to see them play live in December. The BBC4 Documentary was fantastic as well.
um doki66, difford & tilbrook have been compared to lennon & mccartney for 30-some odd years now. too many times really. i think it was something of an albatross from the beginning. it's not something invented by some overzealous fan.

I'm sorry but Chris Difford and Glenn Tilbrook, are NOT "widely considered to be among the finest songwriters of their generation" and are NOT often compared with Lennon-McCartney. I'm sure they wrote some great songs that a bunch of people really love, but this description is a massive exaggeration and was clearly written by an over-enthusiastic fan.
creating a top 15 squeeze songs list will always be unfair, we have to admit that some of their songs (namely the high charting singles) - which aren't bad at all, by the way! - will always outnumber the plays album tracks have. that is the case with every good music act :-)
Squeeze is releasing a record in August 2010! Also they’re doing 5 week tour with Cheap Trick and The English Beat! Click here for more info www.squeezeofficial.com/
ALSO check out Chris Difford’s solo record! This is being released through Saturday Morning Music Club. Click here to read more: www.smmcmedia.com
@theparlez: "Tempted"'s primacy has to do with it being a very big hit in the US. It still gets a ton of airplay here on AC and classic hits format stations. Most of Squeeze's other hits--including the two you mention--weren't popular here at all.
Catch Chris Difford in the spectactular one-off event 'Songs In The Key of London' at the Barbican centre on Tues 9 March- click here for more details! http://www.barbican.org.uk/music/event-detail.asp?ID=9950
