Squeeze Paul Heaton
The evening started with a great, no nonsense performance by Paul Heaton and his band, which understandably received a standing ovation upon its conclusion. His new work sounded every bit as seminal as his work with The Housemartins and The Beautiful South, of which he played several songs.
Squeeze put on a truly delightful show which highlighted what great musicians and showmen they really are, as well as what a brilliant back catalogue they have. Their new compositions (of which they played a substantial amount) fit right into their set, and made me thankful that the band had decided to write their first new material in a number of years.
A personal highlight was their decision to do a small acoustic set in the middle of the show. The band came as close to the edge of the stage as they could and this made a great interactive performance even more so.
