Released as a single from the band’s second studio album of the same name in 1979, “Morning Dance” became a Top 40 hit in the United States, where it peaked at #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart during the summer of 1979. It remained in the Top 40 for eight weeks. Although Spyro Gyra is well-known and has sold millions of albums worldwide, this single is the band’s sole U.S. Top 40 hit to date. “Morning Dance” also spent one week atop the U.S. adult contemporary chart. In England, the song reached #17 on the UK Singles Chart. Songwriter and band member Jay Beckenstein plays the alto sax on this track.
