Biography

Perth, Australia (2009 – present)

There are two artists named Split Seconds:
[1] An band from Perth, Australia.
[2] A dark-wave trio from Bielefeld, Germany.

[1] Perth’s Split Seconds formed in 2009 as an outlet for singer and guitarist Sean Pollard, following his previous band New Rules for Boats’ hiatus. It eventually solidified into a six-piece band consisting of well-known local musicians, with Pollard accompanied by Rhys Davies from Faith in Plastics (guitar/vocals) , former New Rules For Boats bandmate Ben Golby (keyboard/vocals), Jack Trewenack from The Jackards (drums/vocals), Vaughan Davies from Emperors (bass/vocals), and latest addition Todd Pickett from Abbe May & The Rockin’ Pneumonia (guitar/vocals).

Split Seconds started 2011 in a blaze of glory, adding just about every summer festival to their resume, including the coveted Unearthed spot at the Big Day Out. Their debut release, self-titled EP Split Seconds, soon followed, with single Bed Down entering high rotation on alternative radio. They dominated the 2011 WAMI Awards, winning five awards including Best Male Vocalist, Best Indie Pop Act and Most Promising New Act. They have since supported many well-known artists including Sufjan Stevens, Tim Minchin, Little Red and Cloud Control, and increased their frequent flyer points by taking in national tours with The Panics, Owl Eyes and Jebediah.
