Great british band playing progressive folk-rock with elements of psychedelic. They formed ambitious compositions having an amazing, mysterious atmosphere, engaging melodies. Interestingly in their music they fared contrast between the raw male vocals (Martin Cockerham) and gentle, soulful female vocals (Barbara Gaskin). An important role in their music played the violin sound. A beautiful, richly orchestrated music from the soul, which is worth to know :)

Recently checked out 'Bells, Boots and Shambles' what a bloody brilliant piece of work. It's sorely neglected.

It's interesting that they are stylistically similar in many ways to Comus, but Martin Cockerham claimed in an interview that he had never heard of the band until they resurfaced years later.

Un-hippy-dippy folk, almost punky, sometimes bitter lyrics and stabbing, rough music, like sandpaper to the ol' lugholes, nice counterpoint between the vocalists...this is good stuff, if you like Comus you'll dig these lot

"And so down into a time where Liberty and Freedom have no significance in the current economic crisis" (Dangerous Dave, 1972) Did these guys have some kind of crystal ball to see into Cameron's United Kingdom PLC circa 2013??
