19 Sep 2006, 02:45 by moikLast Saturday I rode a century (100 mile bike ride) here in Klamath Falls. It was a nice day - pretty cold so I didn't overheat.
Yes I am Mr. Bad Example - I ride with an ipod. That's right. And sometimes on a big climb on a hot day I even take off my helmet. (I’ll take it off grinding up a mountain but of course I put it back on before flying down.)
Below is a playlist of this rides music randomly selected by my ipod shuffle.
1.) Avoid songs with guitars that sound like a giant truck bearing down on you (several songs by Sonic Youth, for example). That is frightening.
2.) Avoid songs with the sounds of dawgs barking in the background (Hair Pie bake 1 by Captain Beefheart & The Magic Band for example). Also frightening.
3.) Songs that get into your playlist, and it turns out you don’t actually like the song very much to begin with, and the song is like ten minutes long, and you’re pushing into the wind on a bumpy road with sore wrists – make ten minutes seem like half an hour. …
27 Jul 2006, 01:33 by moikIs it just me or does anybody else enjoy tagging songs on last.fm?
I'm not talking about tagging Nirvana as grunge or Slayer as heavy metal. And I'm not talking about tags like seen live, even though I do use that one sometimes.
No - I'm talking about absurd, nonsensical tags like beefalo, bright paper werewolves, or dental surf combat.
wanna shut that door
(Actually these are all bands that remind me of Minnesota. My Minnesota roommate used to always say, "Hey, wanna shut dat door? It's colder'n shit in 'ere!" (Imagine this with that accent used in the movie Fargo)
(used over 100 times!)

16 Jul 2006, 17:15 by HomemadeQueenSome dear old friends are coming over for monopoly and other girly stuff tomorrow so I burned us a sweet little CD. I am kind of proud of the result so I thought I'd share it with all of you.
1.Talulah Gosh - My World’s Ending. Talulah Gosh is so awesome it’s insane. I love the twee-ish sadness of this song.
2. Robert Pollard With Dough Gillard – And My Unit Moves. I don’t think my friends will like this much, it might be a tad to strange for them, but I don’t care. Speak Kindly Of Your Volunteer Fire Department is one of Bobby’s best non-GBV records.
3.The Vaselines – Molly’s Lips.
4.The Wedding Present – Getting Nowhere Fast. Rocks so goddamned much.
5.The Pixies – Wave Of Mutilation.
6.The Pooh Sticks – Indiepop Ain’t Noise Pollution. What a song title! What a song! This is a version from The Sound Of Lemington Spa Vol. 1. Everybody should check it out.
7.of Montreal – My British Tour Diary. I love all things british. Almost.
8.The Clientele – Joseph Cornell. Clientele is just awesome. A constant favourite.
