Foil Deer is great though a little more uneven than Major Arcana. That being said, My Dead Girl is one of their prettiest songs.

Then they went from the Real Hair EP, straight to the single released last summer, "Bigger Party," and "Several, several seas I could swim in at ease..."

As a big Speedy Ortiz fan, Major Arcana is great for having punchy short, sing-along songs, like "Casper" and "No Below" an album that begs to be played over and over. It seemed like on the Real Hair EP, Speedy Ortiz basically perfected their sound. Now with 'Foil Deer,' they definitely progressed as in with experimentation, but they kinda went a bit overboard as in their sound went Point A to Point C within less than a year. Just my opinion. Both are great LPs, but I think 'Major Arcana' just has that classic Indie charm. So, not necessarily disappointed at all with 'Foil Deer.' I was just expecting more fun songs to sing along to and outside maybe "Raising the Skate," I just don't see it in this album.
