Biography

Speed 78 was the blues and folk outfit for the Dutch Don van Dongen. The band’s style can be desribed as songs with rich arrangements with a lo-fi sound.

On the Excelsior released album Skiffle (1998) Don van Dongen plays acoustic guitars, banjo and harmonica. He is joined in by Maarten Heijblok (bass), Cor van Ingen (bass), Jeroen Kleijn (drums) and Anne Soldaat (electric guitars). The album features own compositions by Don van Dongen, aswell as some renditions of old blues and folk songs re-arranged by Van Dongen.
