A meeting of minds indeed! Simeon, he of Silver Apples, and Sonic Boom, he of Spacemen 3/Spectrum/E.A.R. Sonic’s love of Silver Apples was already evident from his recorded output, and he had already recorded a cover of Silver Apples classic “A Pox On You” under his Spectrum alias as a collaboration with Jessamine. The “A Lake of Teardrops” release with Simeon appeared a couple of years later, and displays the talents of both participants admirably. All tracks sound very much like Silver Apples tracks, but in no way just a pure emulation of their sound, as the drones and reverb familiar to fans of Sonic’s output are always present.
