Biography
Speach Impediments, also known as S.I., are a hip hop group hailing from Orange County, California. What originally started as a group of friends who had a love for hip hop music, ended up turning into a group of individuals who would represent the S.I. name. They spent some time going to house parties and local functions getting into freestyle sessions and battles as a means of honing their craft, eventually putting pen to paper and creating songs together. This later resulted in the official formation of what the group is today. The group is composed of rappers Drewid, Syntax Vernac, Freddie J, Deezie, and DJ Zole.
The birth of the actual group came in the form of a sold-out show in the summer of 2003 at The House of Blues in Anaheim, CA. They hit the studio immediately and released 2 albums titled “The Domino Effect” (2004) and “Speach’s 11” (2005) with indie (now defunct) record label OC Records. In late 2007 they signed with Japan indie label Swamp Record and released “Time Lapse” which also dropped a 7” vinyl. That year they also released their first (USA) 12” vinyl titled “Got Wax?”. The group then went on to release several solo projects over the next few years and then in October 2010, they got together and released “Ahead of the Game”. This would be considered to be the official first group album featuring songs from all 4 members which was a handpicked collection of their most coveted group tracks, remixed and mastered. Now with well over 350 shows and performances under their belt, a catalog of over 40 recorded tracks from several releases, and an upcoming, highly anticipated Sophmore LP with 16 brand new tracks in the final mixing phase
