There are different bands under the same name:
1. A British alternative rock group active in the 1990’s and best known for their single “Female of the Species”.
2. A French synthpop group active in the 1970’s and the 1980’s
3. An alias of Jimmy Cauty of The KLF
4. The project of an Australian guitarist active in the 2000’s
5. A rapper signed to Black Eye Records
1)Space were a britpop band from Liverpool, who released a few prominent records (including top 20 hit single “Female of the Species” and the songs “Ballad of Tom Jones” and “Avenging Angels”) and then fell back into obscurity, eventually splitting up. They are notable for lead singer Tommy Scott singing in a very Liverpudlian accent - see “Neighbourhood” or “Me and You vs The World”. The band also experimented with dance versions of their tracks - notably “Growler”, the last track from their debut album.
Despite accusations of being a comedy or novelty act Space had more depth than may be immediately apparent - “Female Of The Species” was written as a tribute to Tommy Scott’s late father, who loved Frank Sinatra. Scott wanted to write a song his father would have enjoyed.

Space released three studio albums (Magic Fly, Deliverance, Just Blue), which became very influential in their subgenre.

I've been an English Space fan for years, but I got hold of Magic Fly a few weeks back and I'm really enjoying it! So rather than bickering about which band is better or who should have the picture, let's try listening to the other. It makes sense because a) they're a simular size (look at the charts), b) both bands experienced a few years of mainstream success then faded away into obscurity, and c) at the end of the day, the music isn't worlds apart! Listen to the more dancy tracks of Britpop Space and you'll hear a clear French Space influence... So yes, if you're a French Space fan you should get hold of Spiders; whilst English Space fans should give Magic Fly a shot. What's the worst that could come of it :-)
