About this album
The fifth release of Bitlab Records was again created by Soutien Gorge, the project of András Hargitai (Banyek) & Róbert Potys. After their previous mini-album titled Vízállásjelentés (Boltfish Recordings – 2007), which made them again a bit more acclaimed, they have left a new milestone behind themselves with their new record titled Ionleány. When creating these 16 tracks that altogether clock above 70 minutes, the band was doing new kinds of experiments. Melodies have become more direct compared to the polyphonic textures of Vízállásjelentés, furthermore, they came into being by means of analogue equipment.
The rhythm-section presented by old drum-machines accompanies the melodies in a so-called blues-rock hammering style instead of super-precise, perfectionist and microscopic sequences. This radicalism is considered rather unconventional in today’s electronic music, and it is further enhanced by the forever-striking guitar sequences of Róbert Potys. There are also some tracks on the album that had been left out from Vízállásjelentés, though originally they were intended to be on that record – these tracks recapture the softer side of SG. Last but not least, the often-criticised suggestive speech samples are present on Ionleány as well. This is the first SG full-length that is available as a free download in its entirety at Bitlab Records’ sublabel, Complementary Distribution.
