Southerly is a United States (Portland, OR) musical act founded by Krist Krueger. The project began initially in 2001 with the release of a short-run, hand-packaged cassette EP, but it was shortly thereafter put on hiatus to focus on building his own independent booking agency, The Crow Agency. After picking the project back up, he toured full time for three and a half years throughout the United States and Canada.
In 2006 the project became a full time band with Robert Bartleson on bass guitar, Ryan Heise (from System and Station, Protest Hill) on drums, and Casey Montgomery on guitar and organ. The latest and second full length was released in North America in May 2007 by Greyday Records (CD) and People In A Position To Know Recordings (vinyl) and throughout Europe and the UK more recently in March of 2009 by Arctic Rodeo Recordings.
