Joyful Girl (6:15)

Cover of Next

From Next

Soulive (with Dave Mathews on Vocals) jazz up this tasty tidbit by Ani Difranco (originally the song is the final track on her 1996 album “Dilate”). This version is from their 2002 album “Next,” the first time they toured as a quartet (hence the sombre yet sweeping saxophone). Fans of all three artists are encouraged to dig on this.

heard this on world cafe as their show's format was menage tunes(trois) which featured 3 different artists performing the same songs. Was a cool show and i really dug this version with D.Mattews on vocals

phenomenal cover of a great tune. They done Ani Difranco proud! I bet she loves this! So different from the lean, stripped down original; it does what every grand cover does: awakens you to the inchoate transformative potential in awesome songs; made more alive by shedding their old skins and scales and being played differently. Imitation is not the highest form of flattery; inspiration is- where somthing moves you to the point where your own imagination kicks in and re-enlivens the song. That's how they live.

is this dave matthews singing or just a sound-alike? awesome track nonetheless that voice just makes me think that either last.fm is playing me the wrong track or it features DM
