Los Angeles Love's Love.
7 Apr 2009, 6:26pm
I have listened to this band for years now. I like all their stuff. "Screenwriters Lament" on "Roovey Vroom" is great "Supra Genius" is another good song. Never a dull moment with these guys...

House enlightens :))))
25 Feb 2009, 9:57pm
Heh, House did get me interested ... I thought "Whoah, who is this?" I can't believe I never listened to these guys. I was heavily into the alternative scene during the 90's, and thought I had all the cool artists covered. ;-)
24 Feb 2009, 3:41pm
$300 was on the new house episode last night... i was pretty excited
24 Feb 2009, 8:23am
Indeed it doesn't. Wouldn't mind seeing it climb higher in the weekly chart but I'll settle for the rabid House fanbase to bring $300 up a few positions as a consolation.
16 Feb 2009, 11:21pm
How Many Cans doesnt get enough love.
13 Feb 2009, 10:11pm
One of the strangest bands I have in my music collection, but I can't stop listening to 'el oso', ti's an amazing album! Anyone know what genre you could call them? dKa
12 Feb 2009, 8:07pm
One of a kind.
9 Feb 2009, 7:44pm
Definitely ahead of their time. Been with 'em since they came out, just now joining the 'Last' boat. These grooves are timeless! And NO! There hasn't been a band since that has actually picked up the same flavor and rolled with it. Just similar flavors, but Doughty's albums are pretty good, though as solo he is still no Soul Coughing - which is a very apt name for this style of music...
18 Jan 2009, 4:20am
It always strikes me how well the samples blend into the songs. Great band.
9 Jan 2009, 2:06am
my first concert when I was 12 back in '98...my older sister took me and i am very grateful
30 Dec 2008, 4:22pm
you guys will rule ears even after 2009, discovered you just now! Great! Supa bon bon
16 Dec 2008, 1:18am
hey! can anybody leave me a shout to recommend more bands that sound like soul coughing? the "similar artists" above are good, but there have to be some bands that have taken up the awesome repetitive experimental soul coughing sound since they broke up.... right?

20 Nov 2008, 3:12pm
"Is Chicago, Is Not Chicago" is the best! Why do all the great bands break up?
1 Nov 2008, 5:17am
It's a photo jesus christ.
24 Oct 2008, 7:54pm
Aaarrgh! Where's 'how many cans?'....
24 Oct 2008, 4:44am
"Ruby Vroom" is a great record, most definitely, but I prefer "El Oso" a lot more... can't beat stuff like "I Miss the Girl" and "The Incumbent"!
19 Oct 2008, 5:45am
Ah, Ruby Vroom. My fave album of all time. Got me into all the rest of the music I like now. Yeah, soul coughing!
18 Oct 2008, 10:50am
Unmarked Helicopters isn't in top 15. shame ;p
25 Sep 2008, 11:38pm
I can't believe I haven't got into these guys earlier. I've had their most popular songs like Rolling, Circles, Lazybones and Super Bon Bon for a long time but never had a chance to buy a CD, now that I have all 3 they're gonna climb to the top of my charts in no time.
9 Sep 2008, 4:04am
What a band! What a perfect combination of music, words, beat, talent! This is one of my favorite bands ever! Yep, I'm a man of the 90's. Side by side with Morphine, Soul Coughing was The Band of the 90's!

18 Jul 2008, 8:42pm
1.5 миллиона прослушиваний и не один не оставил информации о исполнителе!!
15 Jul 2008, 7:04am
can you say "ahead of their time"?
11 Jul 2008, 12:47pm
One of my favorite bands of all time. Just brilliant and wonderfully original.
27 Jun 2008, 6:26am
So called 'indie rock' sure does need a new name. Something maybe other than 'alternative rock', that is. Genres are pretty much just funny these days. But they'll morph countless times as the present falls further into the past, becoming more specific, yet so infuriatingly more convoluted... it'll all go full circle and we'll end up having genre genres... genres of genre. Hang on, hasn't that already happened? It will never really make any sense.
23 Jun 2008, 6:47pm
damn indie rock tag. it's everywhere this days. i fucking hate indie rock. it's sad and shameful to see it and SC in the same context.

26 May 2008, 5:47pm
Justin: blame. is the cure, cure anything... i think its worse that circles is FAR from their best song. maybe i'll come down, anyone?
16 May 2008, 7:36am
Circles is played almost 2x as often as Screenwriter's Blues? That makes me die a little inside.
12 Apr 2008, 8:06am
They certainly knew how to write a song with the best of them.
28 Mar 2008, 12:09am
Hm, for me El Oso and Ruby Vroom are tied for the best. Irresistible Bliss is good, but it feel chaotic and lacks focus at points... though all of the songs stand well on their own.
14 Mar 2008, 11:00pm
Pick up Mike Doughty's solo records, good, if not better at times. Golden Delicious was just released last month and is well it hasnt left my CD player. I'm amazed his own project isn't on the similar artists list.
30 Jan 2008, 12:32am
Don't know if anyone told before: There's a huge collection of live recordings at archive.org (=for free!)
20 Jan 2008, 1:45pm

12 Jan 2008, 10:57pm
I never got a chance to see them live :<

28 Nov 2007, 5:29am
doughty is great. much respect.
17 Oct 2007, 8:20pm
Is your bassline tired? Because it's been walking all night long. I love how every instrument supplements another so well.
28 Aug 2007, 12:30am
I first heard Soul Coughing when KCRW played Screenwriter's Blues and I was driving down the 405, passing the Reseda exit. We are all in some way or another going to Reseda... to die. I laughed along with the Radioman.
28 Jun 2007, 10:31pm
Brilliant band, a real shame that they didn't make music longer.
12 May 2007, 10:39pm
fucking love this shit
5 May 2007, 1:16pm
These guys are absolutely un-f$%king-believable!! I've seen 'em live a couple times, and each show was an SOOO much fun. They were one of the most creative, limit-pushing groups to come out of the 90's. I can still listen to their cd's front to back and enjoy them like it was the first time I ever heard them. Speaking of the first time I heard them: I Was so floored, I couldn't stop listening!
1 May 2007, 5:16pm
come on and dig me 'cuz im the fly pigmy... greatest song title ever you lucky dog... greatest SC song ever
19 Apr 2007, 12:46am
Super Bon Bon = possibly the best song ever.
