Soufferance is one of the solo projects of artist Alexandre Julien (of Vision Éternel), which is based out of Montreal, Quebec. Alexandre Julien considers this music to be . It originally begun in October 2006, when a Demo was released on Mortification Records. Through out most of 2007, Alexandre Julien worked on recording a full length album, from which an ep compiling a selection of demos was released as “Forthcoming Travels (1st)”.

The album was finally completed in July 2009 and would released a year later by valse sinistre Productions as “Travels Into Several Remote Nations of the Mind”. In August 2009, Svartgalgh Records reissued “Forthcoming Travels (2nd)” on a very limited 3”cdr.

From the summer of 2009 until early 2011, Alexandre Julien worked on the second concept to be released. The concept was first introduced when Quartier23 released the ep “Bonjour Tristesse” in March 2011 on CD, and a tape version by Depressive Illusions Records in August 2011. The second half of this concept will be released as the full-length album “Adieu Tristesse.
