About this album

Unia is the fifth full-length studio album by the band Sonata Arctica, following the album Reckoning Night. The first single from the album was “Paid In Full”, released on April 27, 2007. This is also the last album that features Jani Liimatainen, who was later replaced by Elias Viljanen after the album was released.

The album was mixed at Finnvox Studios and mastered at Cutting Room Studios in Stockholm, Sweden. The album was also released as a limited edition noble book in 7” size (1000 copies), exclusively available via mailorder from Nuclear Blast records. The limited edition came with a differing track listing and bonus tracks “They Follow” and “Out In The Fields”.

"Good enough is good enough". There is so much pain in this song... Yet, a beautiful one.

Love the melodies, the prog sound is a little hard to get used too at first. After a couple listens it got better but still my least favorite.

One of my favourites from SA, sadly they lost part of that energy(when even bonus track is kinda one of my all time favourite songs) lately though still doing it great ofc.

The only power metal album not getting boring over years as far as I can tell. And yes, I still consider it to be power metal, even in it's progressive way.

I think I hate the pretentious prog-asses more than the power-asses.

With this album, it's really : Love it or hate it. When it came out I so hated it I even stop listening to Sonata Arctica during one year after that. Then a friend makes me listening to Caleb and I wanted to listen to this album again. And now I can easily say it's the only Sonata Arctica's album I can listen in one whole without getting bored! From far the most unexpectable, the most progressive, the most mature of their albums. In this album they are not anymore doing power metal.

haha sucks that the best track on the album (to create a warlike feel) is a bonus track

After hearing this their oldest albums are too pale and straight forward for me. I see how people think it's sloppy cause it doesn't have the speed of previous albums, but you'll love it if you listen to it with a different approach. Unia also takes many listens before you appreciate it to the max (like most of my favorite albums). Unia is still my fav album from Sonata, even after Days of Grays
