Biography
Soilent Grün (referring to film Soylent Green) were a German punk band lasting from 1979 to 1982. Forming members were Dirk Felsenheimer (later called Bela B.), Kai-Uwe Schmidt, Bernd van Huizen and Hussein Kutlucan.
After someone stole guitarist Schmidt’s instrument, Jan Vetter (later called Farin Urlaub) joined the band.
There were many personnel changes in the band as the apportionment of instruments is concerned.
In 1982 Roman Stoiloff joined the band and took the place of van Huizen.
The only official record the band released was Die Fleisch EP in 1982.
Because of different musical concepts (Vetter and Felsenheimer did not like the parole-like political lyrics some other members wrote) Soilent Grün broke up in the same year. Before this, however, the band played a valediction concert. At this concert also the at that time new band Die Toten Hosen played.
After Soilent Grün’s breakup 1982, Vetter and Felsenheimer together with Sahnie founded the rock band Die Ärzte which is until today one of the best-known German rock bands.
