So They Say is an alternative/hard rock band based in Saint Louis, MO. They released their self-titled debut EP So They Say independently on June 14, 2005. The band quickly gained local fame and became critically acclaimed. Shortly after, on March 7, 2006, they released their debut studio album, Antidote for Irony on Fearless Records. They recorded the follow up album, Life In Surveillance with Matt Hyde (Strung Out), released on October 9, 2007. So They Say appeared briefly on Warped Tour 2005, and moreover on Warped Tour 2006 and 2007. So They Say was part of the Life and Lies Tour rounding the end of 2007 with alternative counterparts LoveHateHero, Tokyo Rose, and National Product.
Towards the beginning of 2008, So They Say began reconstructing their line up. On February 14, 2008 the band announced that members Nicholas Walters and Justin Hanson would no longer be pursuing a future with So They Say and two original members Joseph Hamilton and David Schroeder remained.
On April 20, 2008, So They Say announced the addition of three new members to restore So They Say to a ‘full band’ status. Matt Elliott is now on lead guitar, Patrick Blair is now on bass and background vocals and Jim Koplin is now on drums and sampling.
On April 23, 2008, Hamilton announced in a MySpace blog that So They Say will now be known as The Audio and retain the newly-found band line up. It was also revealed that The Audio would not be on Fearless Record’s roster but the label would still hold distribution rights to So They Say’s previous releases.

Life In Surveillance is such a fantastic album! Antidote for Irony was good, but it never had a lasting value for me, sounded kinda, generic to me. Hand of God, A Defeated Accomplishment, I Won't Tell and Close Range are great songs, some of their best. Very disappointed with The Audio so far, unfortunately. =/

everyone who said this band isn't emo probably thinks of the stereotypical cutter emo when they hear it. emo just means emotional so any song with emotion should be called emo, so almost all songs should be called emo, so its arbitrary and unnececery anyway. there really shouldn't be an emo tag just because almost all songs have emotion, but this band does have "emo" songs so it isn't an incorrect tag per say.
