Snake Jaw is an American Experimental Metal/Folk/Electronic band from Tallahassee, FL. It was conceived by former band member Dominic Levings who is not in the band anymore because he “had to much work to do.” Snake Jaw was formed by Guitarist and Lead vocalist Taylor Harvey and Bassist, drummer, and backing vocalist. So far, the band has released 20 full-length albums and performed live twice. They released their first album Bloody Fang on October 17th, 2009.

The popular music magazine Mussak Magazine named Snake Jaw their 2nd top band to watch for 2010. Editor Jordan Mauro claimed that: “They really have a lot of potential! Their sound is quite a unique one, which is a factor many record companies are looking for these days.” Snake Jaw is currently signed to Flaming Mongoose Records.

On October 22nd, 2009, Bloody Fang hit music shelves across the United States and the most southern part of Alberta, Canada. Guitarist and Lead Vocalist, Taylor Harvey, sold over 4,000 copies of the album at his highschool. The album received immediate rave reviews, including one outstanding comment from original member, Dominic Levings.

The first album, Bloody Fang, consist of 30 tracks of mixed music genres and modern sounds. It contains profanity as well as rhyming poetic lyrics, and contains beats like no other. One masterpiece, titled ‘Weeshanwananahweena,’ is scheduled to appear in a main-story article for the musical review magazine, Mussak. It contains a replaying chorus and a steady beat.

Snake Jaw is one of the most promising and upcoming bands of the new decade. “I like where this is going. I think we can make it big. After one more album and a few shows, we’ll make it there. We will become famous. I want people to hear us. I am so excited,” bassist said in a recent interview with Mussak Magazine. “You’ll be hearing our name for a while.”

The duo followed up Bloody Fang with two very different releases. The first of the two, Uke, is a ukulele centered freak-folk album with heavy classical influences. Their next release, a LP titled Fury Animals, is a bizarre but intriguing combination of Death Metal and electronic music. Both of these albums were very limited release.

On February 14th 2010, Snake Jaw recorded their 4th full length album "Skies of Ragnarok". In this release the band strayed away from their Experimental Rock roots to a darker, more viking metal sound. The themes and lyrics of the album were strongly influenced by Norse mythology and bands such as Amon Amarth.

On April 9th-11th the duo recorded Venom, their most varied record yet. The band calls the sound "folkgrind", combining folk instrumentation with heavy, aggressive, metal themes. It was their first record to feature Harvey playing both the acoustic guitar as well as the mandolin.

The bands sixth album entitled "C/TWL" was written and recorded entirely by Harvey from March to June 2010. The album is a drastic new direction in the groups sound. It incorporates elements of doom metal, ambient, drone, trance, and psychedelic music (In other words, its super dark, slow, and boring). It is only available through special request direct toward a band member.

In July of 2010, the band recorded their seventh full length, "Heated Heart Yogurt Titan". It continues with "Venom"'s 'folkgrind' genre while also adding uses of electronica samples and synths. The album's lyrical theme is strongly related to various mathematics, featuring tracks such as 'Adding is Easy' and 'Algebra!'.

After a long period of near silence from the band, the groups 8th record entitled "Every Friday Til the End of Time" finally was released in March of 2011. This fully electronic record uses a combination of droning electronics and variety of samples to create dark, atmospheric, ambient music.

In Early June of 2011, the duo wrote and recorded their 9th album, "Revisited Wrench", in a brief burst of time. This record marked the first time that half the band took the creative lead in writing and producing most of the album, making about half of the songs by himself. The album features both metal and folk styles, with heavy emphasis on reverb and pitched vocals. The lyrical themes focus on the old west and the history of music, among other things.

Shortly after the release of Revisited Wrench, the duo began work on their next effort, entitled "Puberty Panda". On this full length the band expanded on their sound by implementing drum machines and vocal harmonies into their existing experimental folk sound. During this time, half the band wrote, recorded, and released his first solo album under the name Wasted Elk. This release featured half the band's signature doom-tinged bass playing along with looped keyboards and whisper vocals to create a dark electronic sound. Around the same time, Harvey also embarked on a solo project under the name Bears in the Woods (though C/TWL and Every Friday Til the end of Time could be considered Harvey's solo albums). Bears in the Woods have currently released 5 EPs.

Next, the duo released an "annoying" album with lyrics inspired by video games called Hot Area Llama Owner in September of 2011. The next month the duo released Sunhippie, a sprawling folk concept album about the north Florida gulf coast, especially places like Apalachicola and Cape San Blas.

In early November of 2011, the duo finally released the long awaited Skies of Ragnarok II, a sequel to their 4th album. The record was a metal concept album that continued the epic story of the struggle between the mighty Thor and the sinister Loki.

In December of 2011, the duo had something of a creative spree, releasing three albums in just one month. The first was the long awaited "Is This Weird At All?", an album of remixes the duo did of other artists' work. The album features remixes of songs by Beach House, Violent Femmes, My Morning Jacket, and others. Next, the duo released a sprawling blues-metal concept record called "Jane Wask and the Alien Invaders", about an alien invasion set in 1950s Tallahassee, Fl. Finally, the duo produced the short but sweet "Welcome to Runescape", an album about the popular mmorpg Runescape by Jagex.

After another silent period from the group, the duo released Born to Grind, an experimental drone/grindcore album, in June of 2012.

In July of 2012, the band recorded a new album titled "Misunderstanding Difficult Crops" marked the first time since the groups inception that the core duo collaborated with other musicians. Friends of the band/ general bros Phillip Mendez (guitar, vocals, recorder) and Anthony Branca (drums, vocals) helped with songwriting and acted as session musicians, though are not yet official Snake Jaw members. The album's first half contains experiential material akin to the groups early work, while the second half features a more accessible pop/rock sound. The album's lyrics focus on current events and sexuality.

The band recorded their 19th album called "Long Sleeve Bikini" in fall 2012.

The band recorded their twentieth and self-titled album "Snake Jaw" in winter of 2012.

After a long break and some scraped album ideas the duo finally released Snake Jaw: The Game, which is actually an album. The themes touched on consumerism, video games, and world music.

Winter of 2013 saw the release of two more Snake Jaw records, their 22nd and 23rd full-lengths. The first, Killer Polar Pillar Puller, was an experimental and psychedelic folk/metal/noise project, and the second, Snake Jaw Ruins the Classics, was an album entirely consisting of covers. The band cover the likes of The Romantics, All Time Low, Kraftwerk, Mayday Parade, Cyndi Lauper, Kanye West, and many more.
