Skull debuted in 1998 with the group Sniperz (스나이퍼군단). Under the name Skull, he took part in the albums Street HipHop Vol. 1, 2001 Daehanmingook (which is not the same as G-Dragon’s debut album, 2001 Daehanmingook Hip-Hop Flex), HipHop Mind Vol. 1, Hip-Hop Clan album, Hip-Hop Jam 2001, 2002 Daehanmingook and was featured in MC Sniper’s first album. He was also part of the Turn It Up O.S.T.

As part of the duo DAGGAZ with Yehsol (예솔), he was featured in MC haNsAi’s first album and took part in MP Hip-Hop 2001 大舶.

In 2002, he and S-Kush made their first appearance as Stony Skunk, on the 2002 Daehanmingook album, being featured on 2soo’s track, 들어봐 어때. Back then, Skull was known as “Super Mario” (and S-Kush was “Soraenoon Boy” [소래눈보이]).

Despite his hip-hop roots, Skull is a big fan of Bob Marley and is best known for his reggae voice. The videos for Boom Di Boom Di and Ragga Muffin were shot in Jamaica, and there Skull met an old man who gave him an amulet of the lion of Judah shaped like Africa, which he later got tattooed on his chest.
