The Scary Monsters and Nasty Sprites Songfacts explains that the song title is a reference to David Bowie’s 1980 album, Scary Monsters and (Super Creeps).

The female sample featured several times throughout before the breakdowns is from a cup stacking video uploaded by YouTube user speedstackinggirl titled “7.00!!! OMG!!! NEW PB! OMG!! OMG!!!”

    This was the first Skrillex song that I had ever listened to. I initially was turned off by the bass drops and just thought it was weird, but as I continued listening to the song it eventually started to grow on me. It's also amusing the amount of YouTube videos where young people show their parents/grandparents this song and film their reaction when they hear the bass drop.
