Biography
Rob Aston, better known as Skinhead Rob, is 1/3 of the rap group, Expensive Taste along with Paul Wall and Travis Barker. He was formerly the vocalist/rapper of the California punk rock/hip hop band the Transplants until their break up.
At first he was a roadie for bands AFI and Rancid. He gained notoriety for beating up troublemakers for both bands during the Warped Tour. Aston eventually started a solo career, which stayed underground with his song “Show Me”. He became involved in the Transplants when Tim Armstrong asked for lyrics to the songs Aston was making. The two started jamming in Armstrongs’s basement whenever they found the time. They eventually enlisted Travis Barker from blink-182 to do the drum tracks, instead of having drum-loops as originally planned.
At the end of the 2005 Vans Warped Tour the Transplants took a hiatus and Rob and Travis joined Houston rapper Paul Wall, who chopped and screwed the Transplants’ Haunted Cities album, to form a new group called Expensive Taste.
He has been interviewd by Nardwuar the Human Serviette, along with Travis.
His favourite tattoo artist is Mr.Cartoon, along with Travis Barker also.
Rob sang on the track “Red Hot Moon” from Rancid’s Indestructible album and Lars Frederiksen and the Bastards song “Switchblade”. He was also featured on Bun B’s 2005 album Trill, on the track “Late Night Creepin’.”
Skinhead Rob is in the process of recording for ‘Warfare’ who involves Skinhead Rob and the rapper Damu.
