There was an emotionally charged LP called Blood, Women, Roses made under this name released in 1987 with cover versions of songs such as Cry Me a River and The Man I Love along with original material from the artists themselves. There were some 12” releases stemming from this LP.

Yes, the snake thing was a bit silly, it accompanied the 12" version of Girl Come Out, which was Swans/Skin's biggest, and possibly only, attempt to be commercial (in my opinion). You could argue the cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart was their other step into commercialism...

The info on wikipedia is a bit misleading though, it states that the name Skin was used in Europe, and in the states they released the LP's under the name World of Skin. This implies that the albums Blood, Women, Roses and Shame, Humility, Revenge were released in the States under the name World of Skin, but they weren't. What actually happened is that the album under the name World of Skin was released in the States and the two Skin albums were released in the UK, there was no mixing of names on albums.
