About This Track
“O Baby” is a song written and recorded by English rock band Siouxsie & the Banshees. It was produced by John Cale and released as the first single from the band’s eleventh studio album The Rapture.
The song is much different musically and lyrically than almost all of Siouxsie & the Banshees past releases. It is an uptempo track with a skipping rhythm, light guitar work and straightforward, cheerful lyrics by Siouxsie Sioux (“…the cracks in the ground grin up at me / Even the creases in my shoes smile up at me…”). “O Baby” is a love song.
“O Baby” was the last Banshees single to hit the top forty, peaking at number thirty-four in the UK singles chart. It was also their last entry on the U.S. Modern Rock Tracks chart, where it reached number twenty-one.
