“Dazzle” is the third single from the 1984 Siouxsie & the Banshees album Hyæna. The song begins with a gradual fade-in of an orchestral strings section and progresses to a drum-driven, majestic anthem. The lyrics “swallowing diamonds/a cutting throat” came after watching the final scene of Marathon Man where Laurence Olivier puts diamonds in his mouth.

“Dazzle” climbed to number thirty-three on the UK singles chart and was Siouxsie & the Banshees’ eleventh top-forty UK hit.

@djskellington- I still... STILL... get goose bumps. I thought it was just me. Their best, in my book.

I remember this... it takes me back, it was sort of in between the new wave and punk era ... is it punk or new wave? it fell into both camps.

I still... STILL... get goose bumps, chills, and even tear up a bit whenever I hear this song. After Red Light, this is probably my favorite Siouxsie track

...met her in the Cellar Bar in Huddersfield circa 1978, sat on her own by he pool table, I recognised her from photos in the NME(the weren't yet signed to a label) and timidly aproached her for an autograph and she was SO shy (and so pretty) !!! Still got the autograph somewhere in my loft - it's on a Bass beermat! happy innocent days!
