Sinking Steps…Rising Eyes started off as a 7 piece screamo band with 2 bass players, guitar, 2 vocalists, drums, and keyboards in September 2001. They played local shows, wrote five songs, recorded them and then released them themselves on a five song ep. They then went on a summer tour across the east coast to promote their five song ep as a six piece band (minus their vocalist Aaron Hagan). After the tour they parted ways with one of the bass players (Seth Dekkenga) and their drummer (Josh Boyd). With the new lineup consisting of guitar, bass, keyboards, and vocals, they spent all winter writing a new full length. Before finishing the record they found a new drummer Brandon Aegerter, and a second vocalist Erin Toft. They then finished writing and began to play a few local shows. In March of '03 they recorded their full length entitled Majestic Blue at Analog Electric in Minneapolis. After recording they parted ways with their drummer Brandon Aegerter. In the summer of '03 they went on a very short tour which took them through Iowa, to Cornerstone, and to Indianapolis with their former drummer Josh Boyd. It went very well. Vocalist Brandon DeJong decided to part with the band in October '03. Matt Macfarland played drums for the remainder of the band.
Sinkingsteps Risingeyes broke up in 2005.
