My first SM album, very European and ahead of its time for UK. Great stuff. It was all over for me by 1985 - we moved in different directions from then on as they went more mainstream and I didn't :)

SM at the peak of their wackiness, but without being strangely catchy. They'd top this album two times, but with much more "acessible" efforts.

Es ist definitiv das beste Album dieser genialen Band...beim Hören wird mir bewusst, dass meine Jugend viele Jahre schon zurück liegt, diese Melodien haben einen eigenen Zauber, Vergänglichkeit auszudrücken.

I used to listen to this driving home on dark nights about 3am, its like a train journey through Ghostlands, it has no catchy tunes but it takes you somewhere, written when they were inventive and took risks, unlike the crap they would write after sparkle in the rain.

Brilliant album. This is Simple Minds at their best before they were trying to write hit singles and recording shoddy songs for The Breakfast Club soundtrack.

Empires and Dance is one of the most haunting simple minds albums. I have every one of their releases, and this album still gives me chills... all good of course.
