Myself and some friends went to see Silver Apples live last week at the Deaf Institute in Manchester. (It was just the one guy) He was awesome words can hardly describe but the term 'far out' (which i admit is one of my favourite expressions) could have been invented to describe a genius such as this. His mastery of multiple primitive and heath robinson- esque music making devices including an oscillator and yes.. portable cd player!, whilst singing as well, some of the strangest and most alien evocative other wordly utterings. it was an absolute honour to be the beholder of such a true genius and artist at work. One of the strangest gigs i've been to and so glad i did. The venue lent itself perfectly with its surreal, quirky furnishings and I think i saw him departing in the spaceship that was hovering outside after the gig.
