Silkworm was an indie rock band active from 1987 to 2005.
The members were Tim Midgett, Joel Phelps, Andy Cohen, and Michael Dahlquist. Phelps left the band in 1994. Matt Kadane of Bedhead and The New Year played keyboards on Italian Platinum and It’ll Be Cool. Dahlquist was killed in July of 2005 when his car was intentionally struck by another car traveling at a high speed. Midgett and Cohen went on to form Bottomless Pit.
In 2006, there was a tribute album released called “An Idiot to Not Appreciate Your Time: The Songs of Silkworm”.

The gap between first hearing this band and actually enjoying their music is ridiculous. Firewater didn't have any musical or emotional impact at all the first few plays, and I spent the next six months not thinking of it at all. That's when I gave them another shot.

i'm with chrisherbert. the stuff andy and tim are doing in bottomless pit definitely evokes memories of silkworm. it's good stuff. hammer of the gods--the debut LP--and the congress EP are both worth a listen.

It's terrific. http://www.bottomlesspit.us I’m trying not to compare it to SKWM for all sorts of reasons but the line of gold running through the corpus of back catalogue remains unbroken. It’s really (tops) great and beautifully packaged too - 2x12 and CD in one.
