Having helped to define both acid house and drum'n'bass, Gerald Simpson have long struggled to live up to his own legend. Apart from 1995's Black Secret Technology the reception of his full-lenghts have been, at best, tepid during the 90's and early 00's.
After releasing Essence in 2000, his most song-oriented and arguably most annoying album to date, A Guy Called Gerald joined dozens of other electronic music producers and moved to Berlin. The city's notoriously vibrant air had undisputably positive effect on Simpson's creativity, as documented on the string of ever-improving post-Essence releases.
