A small question... Is the Hafsol on Hvarf/Heim the same one as on the hoppíola single?

These acoustic songs are giving me the chills.

You should definitely start with Takk then Agaetis Byrjun and then ( ). I found ( ) incredibly difficult to get into.

    October 2007
  • empty_slot

verds start with () maybe, and takk. i'd say start with gong as your first song by them.

I'm looking to get into Sigur Rós. Anyone have any recommendations on which album I should start off with?

    October 2007
  • cowkicker

just noticed that SR are the most tagged band as beautiful. (http://www.last.fm/tag/beautiful) followed in a close second by the wurzels (although they are tagged as bootiful - quite also possibly a lie)

    October 2007
  • cowkicker

if Hoppipolla makes you cry like a baby then you're in. try Saeglopur next, and then Viorar Vel Til Loftarasa. At that point you will have forgotten all the song titles and have become as giddy as a teenager and be wanting to put posters on your wall etc. calm. and then tell your closest friends.

Haha @everyone who automatically equates accessible with inferior. I guess you're just too elite for the rest of us.

A classic doesn't have to be new or old, but it must be timeless. :P

    October 2007
  • fluppebxl

I really don't think that Takk is inferior to ( ) or Agaetis Byrjun. Glósóli, Hoppipolla, Milano, Svo Hljótt and Sé Lést, five magnificent songs on one album :-)

    October 2007
  • FlameGhost

    Glósóli is awesome...

    October 2007
  • burdenofhope

Which songs do they play at the screenings?

    October 2007
  • Ram6

Heima is a new song they play in their acoustic set at the screenings of the movie. 2 links to download 2 sets: http://www.mininova.org/tor/921305 (torrent) http://www.nyctaper.com/?p=65 (direct) And no, it's not in the movie.

    October 2007
  • masklinn_

    > Where can I find the song Heima? There is no such song. If you're talking about the song in the Heima trailer, it's Í Gær (formerly Lagið Í Gær), currently unreleased, it'll appear on the Hvarf CD of Hvarf-Heim (released November 5th in europe and November 6th in the US). But as bizarre as it is I think it won't even be in Heima itself. Need anything else?

  • xtrordnary

TAKK indeed is a great album! I love it a lot!

    October 2007
  • Zeus00

Takk is a great album, I don't see how anyone could say to ignore or avoid it. It's a classic.

    October 2007
  • 1234our

I think Takk is a great album. You can't just ignore the singles like Glósóli, Hoppípolla, Sæglópur, Svo Hljótt, and Heysátan. The other songs on the album are great as well, but these seem to be the favorite.

    October 2007
  • Supernova83

The best albums to start are Agaetis and ( ) You can avoid Takk, it's not a great album

( ) isn't the best to start with. I think Takk is very inferior to ( ) and Agaetis, but it's a good album to start with. It's easier to listen to.

... i've listened to Ágætis Byrjun quite a few times and i don't like it at all... is something wrong with me? should i try another album by sigur ros?

  • rundertong

i loved them yesterday in Ghent... the film was mindblowing, the set was nice but a bit too short... and the lads are just very fun blokes! :D can't wait for the new Cd's and DVD!

    October 2007
  • Snutskallar

Why the hell didn't you herberts tell me about this band before?! I heard them last night for the first time!!

    October 2007
  • Antoningu

Hljómalind is so... pop rock. I really don't like it on first impressions. Pretty disappointing. Heima the song is pretty average compared to the past stuff too. But I'm sure Heima the tour DVD will be beautiful though, can't wait to get it. Where is lagið í gær from? Is that being released because that song blows my mind.

    October 2007
  • TheGoldenLamb

The song is quite meh. I mean, we're talking abiut the band that composed Svo Hljott, Samskeyti, Popplagio, Vidrar etcetc, among others. Compared to those, this new track sounds very generic and more commercial.

    October 2007
  • Vulmen

My Heima DVD and the new CD(´s) are also preorderd, it´s great to hear new stuff from those guys, i can definitevely say, that they changed my life. Ah, and thanx for the hljomalind Link.

For those wondering (like I was) if there were any super-special Icelandic letters in the title of the song, there are! It's Hljómalind. I'm just putting this out there in case any of you are as obsessive about tags as I am.

'Hjomalind' doesn't blow me away, but then it's more like an interlude with its mere 4 minutes. ²18seconds: 'Gong' isn't the top song by far, due to spelling problems 'Glósóli', 'Hoppípolla' and other songs have more plays. For me, 'Untitled 6' is still the best piece of music ever recorded.
