Shriek – The Cthulhu Song
Biography
There are two artists which use this name
1. A horror punk band from the United States
2. An indie rock band from the United Kingdom
Shriek is a Cincinnati based horror punk band that formed in December of 1998 at the end of the second wave of horror following The Vladimirs (the only successful horror rock band in Cincinnati until the formation of Shriek.)
From the Crowd:
Due to the stale condition of the horror scene at the time, Shriek’s original line-up gained much popularity around Cincinnati among the young punk and metal fans.
As the scene grew again, the band quickly gained a reputation for their high energy stage performances, non-conformist attitudes (with much potential for violence), and catchy anthems with hooky choruses… a perfect accompaniment for alcohol consumption.
Though they’re a typical horror punk band musically (monster, monster, whoa whoa whoa), Shriek has refused the traditional rules of horror punk attire, leaving behind the devil locks, pomps, blood stains, and B movie costuming in exchange for the tough guy look of denim and leather. Their image and music are influenced mostly by the Ramones and Misfits, among a handful of other bands from generations past, but don’t be fooled; they have successfully avoided being regarded as yet another “Misfits knock-off.”
