Shoji Meguro (目黒将司) is a game music composer, best known for his work on the Shin Megami Tensei series of RPGs by Atlus. His first work for Atlus was on the collaborative soundtrack to 1996’s Persona, where, among other things, he composed the theme of the Velvet Room. He would then move onto bigger roles by composing half of the soundtrack to Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers, and a nearly solo effort for the Dreamcast slasher Maken X.
However, he began his rise to prominence in the game music scene for his work on Atlus’s PlayStation 2 RPGs, beginning with Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne in 2003. He would quickly follow up with the guitar-laden Digital Devil Saga and its more electronic oriented sequel, along with Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army. He attained more wide acclaim for his pop-imbued soundtracks for Persona 3 and Persona 4.
He has also composed music for the Trauma series, including Under the Knife and its remake, Second Opinion. His most recent work includes Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon and was also given directorial and arranger duties for the PSP remake of Persona. Upcoming projects include Trauma Team, the PSP port of Persona 3, and the next in the Megaten franchise, Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey.

Wow, no love for Mist. That is another epic track I was battling to when fighting Izanami-no-okami. BTW, does Period remind anyone of the Entertainment Tonight theme? After I win a battle, it always feels as if Mary Hart's about to pop up and announce how many experience points, yen and items I've gained. Blasphemy that I compared a Shoji Meguro track to ET, right?

Just watched Persona Music Live and man, here's hope to see more stuff like this to be released in DVD, like the Distant Worlds. The Almighty is amazing on the live show, same as the vocals tracks of P4 and P3. And Lotus Juice is so damn good :)

I disagree. The main problem with SJ's music is that there isn't enough of it. There are a couple areas later on in the game that use music from previous areas. It's kinda lame, but I've liked nearly everything I've heard and it totally fits the game.

Mainline SMT games had similar electro/rock driven soundtracks more inline with shoji's previous work. This is actually the first time I hear a 100% orchestral driven SMT soundtrack in the history of the series,I didn't play the game but if it's similar to the old SMTs so I wouldn't think that the soundtrack would be very fitting.Still as I mentioned this soundtrack is good but it's not shoji's trademark style and as so I think he's out of his element and the soundtrack is definitely weaker than any of the others he's done.

I think it's very fitting for the mainline SMT. Something along the lines of DDS wouldn't portray the world of SJ very well.
